After-hours Assessment and UM Clinician - (Monroe) in Monroe, Michigan For Sale

The crisis response clinician responds to (after-hours) crises through pre-screening, assessments, and hospitalization level of care decisions for Medicaid or indigent consumers of Monroe County based upon state guidelines for hospitalizations. The clinician is responsible for developing safety plans for hospital diversions, screening all after-hour inbound crisis calls providing crisis service for adults, children, adolescents and families, providing face-to-face assessments consistent with authority standards, scheduling admission appointments, or making referrals to outside agencies or service providers consistent with signed contracts and/or inter agency service agreements and/or the county jail. In addition, the after-hours clinician is responsible to provide agency utilization management functions of reviewing service eligibility, medical necessity, and service authorizations decisions through the review of re-assessments and plans of service, as well as performing clinical peer reviews. Work hours are from 7:00 pm - 8:30 am, three days per week. Competitive salary + shift premium. Education, Training and Licensing Credentials: Degree/License: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling with current licensure. Experience: Two years previous experience with Mentally Ill or Co-Occurring (MI/ Substance Abuse) populations required. One year experience with children with SED and adults/children with a developmental disability required. Must be able to type at a rate of 35 wpm to complete all assigned paperwork daily. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide the appropriate care for the specific clinical needs and ages of the individuals served. Demonstrated knowledge of the clinical needs, symptoms, and behaviors of individuals served, as well as understand the principles of growth and development over the life span; have the ability to assess data reflecting each individual’s status; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each individual’s requirements in relation to his or her age- specific/population specific needs; and to provide the care needed by the appropriate age group - (adolescent, adult and geriatric). Other Competencies and Abilities: The following physical and mental abilities are required: ability to work in a complex, detail oriented, deadline and structured environment; frequent lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds, must be able to hear, frequent standing/walking, ability to communicate effectively in person and/or phone, the ability to read, analyze and interpret information, ability to write correspondence and procedures, ability to maintain records, ability to define and solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, ability to influence others. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and such other applications if/when required. Ability to be trained and successfully complete other computer training as required. Valid driver’s license, proof of current automobile insurance and driving record determined by the Authority’s insurance carrier to be eligible for coverage if required as part of positions duties.
